7 great places in Dublin to work with free WIFI and a pint in the evening

niallharbison

I’m a bit of a weird creature in that I work very unusual hours and often only really get going in the evening when others have switched off for the day. Being in the tech and food space I don’t like to confine myself to one particular place and find the creative juices flow better when I am out and about. I’ve written in the past about the best place to have a coffee and work with awesome WIFI around the city and this is now effectively the evening extension of that post. Most people don’t want to be drinking too much coffee in the evening and for many a nice long pint is the perfect accompaniment to getting some work done. Given how much of a role technology plays in our lives you might just want to unwind with a pint, your phone or tablet and take it all in. This list is for you. It is the 7 best places to work in Dublin of an evening with a pint in hand and awesome free WIFI…

7.House Leeson Street

I didn’t give them the best review in the world because the food was pretty poor but in terms of a place to sit and get work done and have a pint it is top notch. Lovely big comfy seats or nice tables gives you plenty of options. Great spot to invite a friend for a world related evening meeting too.

6.The Odeon

Recently reopened and looking better than ever this place gets on the list because of the sheer size of it and the fact that you will nearly always get a nice table and a spot for you laptop. More a weeknight place than anything and if you are super lucky and the weather is nice you can sit outside and work in the late evening sun.

5.Dice Bar

You won’t want to be staying here too late because the volume cranks up and the space starts to get thinner after 8 o’lock but come in here just after work to finish a last couple of bits and you’ll be able to watch the world go by while listening to quality tunes and feeling like you are in New York.

4.Dakota

Most people think of it as a late bar that is packed full of pretty young things. It is but at the same time their tables during the early evening provide not only free WIFI but plugs, table service and great people watching.

3.The Ferryman

This one makes the list because it is right down in the heart of the tech world in one of the places where you are most likely to see techies having a pint and cranking out some email or code. Work here in the evening and you will be surrounded by young European types having a pint after finishing work in Google or Facebook.

2.The Library Bar

This is one of the greatest unheralded secrets in Dublin and a perfect spot to unwind after a long day and have a pint and clear those final emails that have been bugging you. Quiet with great table service and a world away from the hectic outside world this is one relaxing spot.

1.Anseo

So this is my own personal favourite. Super dark inside with pumping tunes and a laid back vibe. Lots of really good beers, super fast free WIFI and for an added bonus and the reason it gets the number one spot for me is that you can bring your dogs in. Chilled out central.
