And Now, The €25 Full Irish With The €5.40 Americano – What The Hell Is Going On, Dublin?

aidan

Last week we had the €21.56 salad and the €4 cup of tea.

But today, things just moved up to a whole new level – with the €25 full Irish, served alongside a €5.40 Americano.

Served up in Dublin’s exclusive Westbury Hotel, it was brought to our attention by Suzanne Sheridan on Twitter – who added that her meal was “just ok (and small)”.

Sorry, but absolutely no amount of bullshit arguments are going to make this okay. No banging on about “Oh well what do you expect, they have to make a profit” or “If you don’t like the prices, then don’t pay”.

Do we really want to be in a position where people have to check menus before they order a black coffee, just to double-check that it doesn’t cost more than a fiver – or to double check that their breakfast doesn’t come in north of €20?

No matter what spin you put on it, this is absolutely farcical for hotel food – we’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again, but these prices are absolutely going to tear the Dublin recovery to shreds before it’s even had a chance to make the city better.
