MUD: Bodytonic presents Alle Farben

Frans Zimmer better known by his stage name Alle Farben (meaning All Colors in German) is a German DJ and producer from Berlin. Zimmer is signed to the Kallias record label. An unorthodox, Zimmer is well known in the electronic music scene as only performing at festivals, having played a delightful 5hr set at last year’s Body&Soul, so this Twisted Pepper appearance on Saturday will be very special indeed.

Visualising the West

In the nineteenth and twentieth centuries many Irish and visiting artists travelled to the West of Ireland to immerse themselves in the unspoiled landscape inhabited by people who spoke Irish, wore their own style of clothing and lived off the land and the sea. This study morning at the National Gallery which kicks off at 10am on Saturday will explore concepts of national identity, of what is unique about the West, and what constitutes the ‘Irishness’ of the landscape – a place that forms such an enduring source of inspiration. Spend your Saturday morning educating yourself in the history of the West’s artwork.

The Kooks

After the success of their mini tour in May, complete with a sold out show at The Electric Ballroom, with a surprise slot at Glastonbury, an electric set at Ibiza/Mallorca Rocks and an all conquering appearance at Reading/Leeds. The critics are already raving about the groups re-invention most agreeing that the Kooks are finally back on track. This Friday and Saturday you can see them perform in the Olympia Theatre at the best they’ve been since the early days.

Des Bishop Coming Home

Des Bishop is coming home after spending over a year in China. He has some fun stories to tell about that: from working in a restaurant in the North East for a month to trying to find a wife in a Marriage park; plus some great journeys he made. But he also can’t wait to tell you about all the things he missed about home: democracy, milk, sarcasm and so much more. This Friday and Saturday in Vicar Street promise to be hilarious evenings filled with Bishop’s humour, honesty and hilarious outlook on all things Irish.

Classic Vinyl Sunday presents Abbey Road

Classic Vinyl Sunday’s organisers are on a mission to change the way we listen to famous albums. The Beatles’ iconic ‘Abbey Road’ will be the third record to get the ‘Classic Vinyl Sunday’ treatment this Sunday in the The Twisted Pepper. There will be a discussion panel about the album’s legacy, famous cover and ground-braking production before the record is played from start to finish. This is the perfect way to spend a chill Sunday evening.
