What’s On This Weekend In Dublin!

emmakenneally

If you don’t have plans for the bank holiday this weekend then don’t despair. We’ve rounded up some of the best events going on in Dublin over the next few days. So good in fact, we’re not sure why you’d bother leaving the city.

Gallery Of Photography Dublin

Is your only plan for the bank holiday to bum around the city and chill out? Not to worry, squeeze in a quick visit to the Gallery of Photography in Temple Bar to see their latest (and free) exhibition for a serious dose of nostalgia. The latest exhibition is “A Photo Album of Ireland” is a project sharing family photographs from private photo collections from families all around the country. There are some incredible old shots from the 1850s to some more ordinary family photos up until the 1980s (think your mum in that dodgy shell suit and the perm). This is a lovely collection of snaps worth checking out.

Long week? Need a laugh? Then get yourself down to Vicar Street for Neil Delamere’s latest show “Holding Out For A Hero” where he tries to make sense with the folklore tales of Ireland’s four most iconic heroes such as Cuchulainn and Grainne Mhaol.

Saucy Sundays

The Grand Social are having a showcase of the best new musical acts from around the country this Sunday. One night at this and your street cred regarding insider music knowledge will increase drastically. Best of all? Free entrance. They’ve tonnes of other events planned for the rest of the month so stay posted on their events page.

Rock and Roll Dublin Half Marathon

While you won’t be finding any of us running a half marathon on bank holiday Monday, if one race could tempt us to don our running shoes it would be the Rock n Roll Dublin Half Marathon. Every mile a stage is set up with bands rocking out as you run. Probably about as much fun as a race is going to get.

New Jersey Nights

Are shows your thing? Then check out the show that smashed the American box offices. It’s a musical show of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Expect a big production and don’t be surprised if you’re singing (screaming at the top of your lungs) along to the words by the end of the show.
