Introducing More Big Changes For Lovin Dublin

niallharbison

Amazing what you can achieve when you have a bit of momentum and this week we have more good news on the site as we introduce some new features, share a small amount of the vision we have going forward and unveil our latest full time staff member. This started out as a small recipe blog that I published in my own spare time but it is quickly growing into something much bigger with a wonderful team of 5 and our own place to call home as of today. So to start off another huge week for the site here are some of the fucking awesome bits of news we have to share with you…

Louise Johnston

We only want the absolute best here on the site and when myself and Louise got chatting we shared the same vision for the future of the site. Louise is supremely talented and will be working on two of the most important things which are the Lovin Dublin brand as well as managing our growing offline presence. She is also a passionate foodie and she says

I’m delighted to announce I’ve joined the Lovin Dublin team and I’ll be taking up the role as Brand Manager. So yes you’ll be seeing and hearing a lot more of me. I’ve always been a lover of brands, marketing and food so it all makes sense. I feel that the expansion of Lovin Dublin goes hand-in-hand with the growth of culture in Dublin and of course Ireland. We’re currently in the middle of the biggest food revolution Ireland has seen since the introduction of the potato and one of the main ingredients has been social media. Our hospitality sector has always been known for great service so I’m very proud as a Dubliner to see so many new innovative, design fuelled restaurants, bars and eateries pop up around the capital. Its a credit to those who have stuck by one of the greatest cities in the world through the economic downturn and who have helped it to continue to grow.

We are super thrilled to welcome her to the team today for her first day and you can expect to get to know her better here as her wonderful personality starts to shine through the site.

Offices

We’ve been based out of cafes all around the city (where Nicola has been managing the growing community) and Niall’s kitchen to date but with our growing team comes the first ever Lovin Dublin offices. It really isn’t much more than a glorified shed at the moment but with three girls working there I’d expect it to be full of pink nice smelling things pretty soon. It’s nice to finally have a place to call home.

Mini Reviews By You

On Friday we quietly rolled out a feature that we think is a bit of a game changer in terms of how Dubliners interact with restaurants and leave reviews. We all carry a phone with us and most of us take pictures of our dinner. We now have not only minireviews ourselves but also feature pictures from restaurants, the community and anybody who tags a photo with #lovindublin and #minireview. All the pictures get pulled in via Instagram and the results are quite remarkable. We don’t suggest that you browse through that page if you are in any way hungry or on a diet. It is awesome content and it is all generated by Dubliners out there every single day. Here are some of the reviews people have been leaving with over 300 already shared to Instagram this is a great way of finding new food in Dublin and keeping restaurants honest.

What Does The Future Hold?

You are probably wondering what all these new hires are for and what direction we are heading? Well I happen to think that online media is a pretty horrible experience for most consumers at the moment. Flashier adverts, bigger homepage takeovers and more blurred lines between paid and free content. We are working on an entirely new concept. A series of ideas actually that will help you interact and experience the Lovin Dublin brand in the real world and that is what our team are working on behind the scenes. The focus will always be here on the site but our primary aim with the website is to help restaurants, help Dubliners and make our city a better place to live in. We aren’t about wrapping our website in ads for mobile phone top ups. We just don’t think you’d like that. So thats all we can say for now but watch out for us in the real world is all we’ll say for now. Give Louise a big old welcome 🙂
