Getting to America from Ireland has never been that cheap. The absolute cheapest you can get it these days with Aer Lingus is €577 but at busy times you'll typically pay €700-800 return. Well the good news is that WOW airlines (who recently announced that they would start the first direct flights from Dublin to Reykjavik) have sparked a possible price war by offering €140 one way flights to Boston and Washington.
You'll have to stop over in Reykjavik and the flights will only operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays but the saving will be considerable. They have promised the stopover will be no longer than 2 hours which will make the savings well worth it. The routes start in June and the best we can hope for as customers is that this starts a transatlantic price war in the same way Ryanair have done for the European market bringing prices down for all of us. America here we come!!!
