Announcing The Winner Of Our Dublin's Finest Hero Award: Sam McGuinness, Dublin Simon Community
We're honoured to award an individual – and an organisation – of this calibre
There are just a few hours to go until the Dublin's Finest Awards in the Morrison Hotel, where we'll be honouring those who make our city the wonderful place we all know and love.
And while most of tonight's winners are currently closely-guarded secrets, sealed in golden envelopes that can be opened only by the skilled chef's hands of our MC Andrew Rudd, there is one special prize we're delighted to announce in advance of the ceremony.
Sam McGuinness and the Dublin Simon Community
In a year where homelessness has been thrust to the front of public debate in Ireland, one organisation that has commanded respect and channelled the emotions of the city and the country is the Dublin Simon Community.
At its helm is Sam McGuinness – an individual we named as one of our 52 people influencing Ireland back in October, and a man who has brilliantly led a team of dedicated and talented individuals to make a real difference to our city.
And the whole team here at Lovin Dublin is delighted to present Sam, and his team, with the very special Dublin's Finest Hero award.
On behalf of Dublin Simon, Sam had this to say:
As we continue to face a rising tide of homelessness with increasing numbers of people, families and children coming to our doors for help at a frightening rate, the kindness of our supporters means that we can provide prevention, high support accommodation, housing, treatment and support services, giving people hope during this time of great uncertainty.
Dublin Simon Community are honoured to be recognised by Lovin Dublin and delighted to be receiving the Dublin Hero Award. We would like to thank everyone at Lovin Dublin for their support.
Sam and members of the team will be in attendance tonight to collect the very special award – and if you'd like to attend, please click here for tickets. You can also click here to donate to the Dublin Simon Community.
