The Cold Weather Calls For The Unofficial Hot Chocolate Awards

Time to get toasty!

Warm up those cheeks and get cosy!

The cold weather is here which means it's time for scarves, hats, fluffy blankets and hot drinks.

There's something so calming about it all, the rush of the summer is gone, less hangovers and more time spent curled up on the couch.

I don't know about you, but I'm damn glad to have a break!

One of my greatest simple pleasures in life comes in a piping hot mug with marshmallows bopping on top.

Yep, it's hard to beat a good hot chocolate.

It can be so disappointing however, when you get one that's just not right - too milky, too watery or too chocolatey.

Here's some of the best spots that know how to do it right:

In 8th: The Paddocks

Completely over the top and loaded with every kind of treat you could imagine.

This is like drinking 100 cheat meals at once.

GOALS.

7th: Brother Hubbard

One jug of chocolate ganache and one of frothy milk, mix it how you like to make your ideal cuppa choccy.

Yummm.

6th: Butler's Chocolate Café

When you're on the go and you want a warm tasty treat, there's no place better.

You even get a free chocolate with it.

Bonus.

5th: Il Fornaio

Chocolate liquid, this is very heavy so you'll only need a tiny cup.

It's just how the Italians like it, thick and creamy.

Delish!

4th: Granthams

One of the cutest cafés in Dublin and one of the best places to chill and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the streets.

Now in anew location, there's no better time to try it.

3rd: Accents

Absolutely divine hot choccy, big comfy couches and chill vibes.

It's clear to see why Accents is a popular spot.

2nd: Ladurée

This stuff is the real deal.

Dreamy, chocolatey sauce, ideal for sipping on a breezy day.

Amazing.

And In 1st Place: Howard's Way

I recently ended up in Howards way when I was dying with the flu - all diet plans were out the window.

I ordered a massive sambo and my one true pleasure - hot choccy. When the mug was placed in front of me I wanted to cry at how beautiful it was (slight exaggeration, but it was fab).

A huge chocolate sprinkled foamy top, and not the shit chcoclate - like actually flakey wonderfulness and two massive marshmallows right in the middle.

I will be back for this beauty again.
