Seven Sickeningly-Sweet Places In Dublin To Get Churros

Éadaoin Fitzmaurice

When it comes to dessert I’m a picky bish.

I rarely enjoy it tbh.

One dish however that will forever have me swooning is those long sugary dough sticks – churros.

Churros are a dream come true.

I like to keep it plain and simple with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar and a small side of Nutella for dipping – literally divine, I’m drooling as I’m typing this.

There are actually only a few places in Dublin however, that serve good churros.

Here are my top picks:

1.Sweet Churro

You can only imagine my excitement when a shop dedicated to churros opened in Temple Bar.

Buzzing.

Thankfully, they do this dish justice too with a load of shapes and variations.

2.Masa

Masa is one of the handiest places in town to grab a quick bite. It’s small, sharing portions, really affordable, city centre and a great buzz – no stress with it.

As well as tacos and quesadillas, they have some sweet desserts on offer. Their churros are the perfect pick-me-up for a rainy day.

Made from Mexican donut, goats milk and caramel -yum.

3.The Old Spot

Ickle baby churros with Mars Bar sauce…

Ehhhhh, hello!

The Old Spot used to be our go-to for a Friday lunch in Lovin before we moved office. It’s a cute spot, real homely with hearty dishes and sound staff.

4. Viva

Viva wine bar in Portobello call themselves a ‘family-run Spanish oasis’: their menu is simple, with all the tapas standards made to a high quality. The best thing about Viva is their gorgeous outside terrace surrounded by little potted plants and bench seating.

Of course, dessert comes in the shape of a sugary dough stick.

5. Las Tapas De Lola

You’ve probably walked past this place a million times but did you know it’s a serious spot for grub?

Wine, sharing plates and churros for dessert – divine.

6. The Port House

Munch ’em, dunk ’em, drip ’em, lick ’em.

The Port House is an ‘ol reliable in Dublin. With three restaurants in South William St, Temple Bar and Dundrum, you can pop in no matter what side of town you’re in.

7. Wigwam

Mini churros with rum dip – ideal for when you want to have a lil drinky and snack.

Wigwam is a serious vibe.
