Trying to sum up Dublin’s new restaurants this year is like trying to finish a Guinness without taking a picture of it first— inconceivable.
2024 brought us everything from tacos that make you reconsider what’s acceptable to eat with your hands, to chargrilled mussels so good they’ve already achieved cult status. The city’s obsession with pints and a well-timed hype train has only fuelled the rise of this year’s stars. Sour cherry negronis? Check. BBQ worthy of a pilgrimage? Absolutely.
The best of the best, though? They’ve gone their own way, serving up creativity and charisma in equal measure. Whether it’s a French bistro shaking up the classics, a Smithfield all-day spot with no pretension, or pizza that’s somehow redefined the meaning of crust, these are the places that made us want to eat out again and again.
10. Tacos Lupillo
53 Sarsfield Rd, Kilmainham, Dublin 10
If you’re looking for Mexican street food, Tacos Lupillo is your answer. This unassuming spot in Inchicore serves up tacos and quesadillas that pack a punch. It’s a small space with big heart—and their birria tacos alone are worth the trip.
Insider tip: Get there early—it’s popular for a reason.
9. Caribou
Stephen Street Lower, Dublin 2
We always knew Caribou would be a winner. From the pitch perfect team that brought us Kodiak and Bonobo anyone who knew the significance of them taking over from Pmacs knew this was going to be a little bit of a homecoming for the team. What no one really expected was for them to do more than pizza. And they did MUCH more than pizza. Their rotating menu of seasonal dishes willl keep you coming back and the Sunday Roast is knock your socks off levels of nom.
Why we love it: Great food, great drinks, and the perfect place to while away an afternoon.
8. Achara
14-18 Aston Quay, Temple Bar, Dublin, D02 FV38
089-9477910 | acharadublin.ie
Achara’s custom-made Santa Maria barbecue is the stuff of dreams. This East-Asian-inspired Temple Bar gem puts the grill front and centre, turning out dishes with bold, smoky flavours. The chargrilled mussels have already reached icon status, and their cocktail game is just as strong. Shaken, stirred and scintillated this place is a banger that I bang on about to anyone who hasn’t been.
Pro move: Book in advance or risk missing out on the action.
7. Floritz
22 St Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2
01-5312535 | floritz.ie
Floritz is Georgian elegance with a bit of frosting. The menu is a greatest-hits compilation of Asian flavours, with dishes like miso roast black cod and bao buns that will have you fighting for the last bite. Add a round of neon-hued cocktails, and you’ve got the makings of a night to remember.
Hot take: It’s impossible to leave without snapping at least one photo for the feed.
6. Parrilla
7-9 Sandford Road, Ranelagh, Dublin 6
01-4970122 | parillaranelagh.com
Tequila and tacos—name a better duo. Parrilla delivers Mexican with a smoky twist. The chimichurri steak and hand-pressed tacos are essential orders, but the real star is the tequila and mezcal selection. The list is likely the most impressive in the city if not the country. The internet has really loved their avocado margarita too. We can confirm it’s creamy, tangy, and unlike anything else in Dublin.
Pro move: Arrive early or book ahead—this place fills up fast.
5. Lotus Eaters
4 Nassau Street, Dublin 2
01-6703865 | thepigsear.ie
Turning The Pig’s Ear into Lotus Eaters was a bold move, but it’s paid off. The menu is a celebration of comfort food classics, from barbecue pork belly skewers to a Wagyu beef burger. Tart things up a bit by finishing with the lemon tart. It’s a sleeper hit that deserves the spotlight.
Vibe check: Casual enough for a weekday dinner, elevated enough for a special occasion.
4. Kaizen
Unit 453, Blanchardstown Centre, Dublin 15
kaizenrestaurant.ie
Kaizen in Blanchardstown Centre brings the vibrancy to the literal table. Known for its expertly crafted Dim Sum and standout dishes like crispy duck pancakes and sizzling black pepper beef, this restaurant delivers a fun take on classic Chinese dining out in Blanch.
Why it’s a must: The Dim Sum menu is a highlight, and their signature cocktails pair beautifully with the rich, aromatic dishes.
3. Coppinger
1 Coppinger Row, Dublin, D02 Y973
01-6729884 | instagram.com/coppingerdublin
When Coppinger Row reopened its doors in August, it was a long awaited homecoming. Under chef Daniel Hannigan’s watch, the food has gone from great to irresistible. The lamb croquettes and charred aubergine steal the show, but the real MVP is the celery gimlet. We were sceptical too, but it wowed us like it has anyone else who has given it a whirl. Trust us, you’ll be talking about it for weeks.
Why we’re obsessed: No minimum spend—you can pop in for a single plate or settle in for the night.
2. Forêt
Over O’Brien’s Pub, 8/9 Sussex Terrace, Dublin 4
foret.ie
Forêt brings French bistro classics back into the spotlight, with a menu that feels both nostalgic and fresh. From steak tartare to chicken au vin jaune, every dish is a reminder of why French cuisine became iconic in the first place. Add a sour cherry negroni, and you’ve got yourself a night to remember.
Budget hack: Split a few small plates and share a dessert for a wallet-friendly feast.
1. Reggie’s Pizza Rathmines
Rathmines, Dublin 6
Reggie’s is a game-changer in an already changed pizza game. The crust is thin, crisp, and sturdy enough to hold toppings like chicken-fat mushrooms (yes, really). From ‘swicey’ wings to the garlic bread that was so good I texted 3 people about it while I was eating it, the starters are just as good as the pies themselves. Reggie’s is well priced world-class pizza and worth jaunting to at any point in your life.
The verdict: You’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit.
