The big day is only 20 days away now and despite the presents, carols, TV and all the other great stuff that comes with the festive season it's the roast dinners that always gets us most excited. Being a bunch of impatient feckers we always like to have at least one sneaky Christmas dinner in advance of the big day. With that in mind we thought we'd do some research and share the top 10 Christmas roasts in the capital ahead of the big day...

10th. The Goat

When you think of Christmas you can't help but think of the goat. They do an awesome roast all year around but when the decorations go up the place really starts buzzing.

9th. Marco Pierre White Dawson Street

The big man himself was at our event last week and if you want a high end classic turkey and ham with stuffing, his restaurant on Dawson Street is where you need to go. It's a bit glamorous and you know the food is going to be top end!

8th. Sinnotts

December might be a festive month but it is also a huge month for sport. No better place to go in and get in the Christmas mood with a huge big carvery and the games on the big screen.

7th. Whitefriar Grill

We named them best brunch in Dublin but they also do a mean lunch and dinner. Save the turkey for the big day and have their roast breast of chicken w/ chestnut & thyme stuffing, dauphinoise potatoes and cranberry relish. Drool!

6th. The Duke

The spot that you'll want to hit up if you are laden down with shopping bags and want a big roast before you head off for round two of shopping. Wholesome and seriously filling.

5th. The Exchequer

As far as roasts go this is one of the best in town. They only do it on a Sunday and you'll need to book it on a Friday but the good news is that they cook it all to order and with loads of sides and a bottle of red wine this is as good as life gets.

4th. Brookwood

Another spot that only do the roast on a Sunday but my god are they good at it! With all the shops open on Sundays this is the perfect spot to replenish the energy levels as you blitz through your Christmas shopping. The focus here is very much on beef, it has to be tasted to be believed.

3rd. Ely Wine Bar

Once you settle into the original Ely with a glass of wine you'll completely forget about the outside world. Their high end roast is something special... Marinated spatchcock chicken, broad beans, onion purée, sprouts tops & pine nut crumble.

2nd. Le Bon Crubeen

They don't mess around here and keep it simple serving up a traditional turkey and ham served with sage stuffing, roasties, root vegetables and cranberry jus. What more could you possibly want than that?

1st. Fire Restaurant

This is a massively popular spot for functions and large groups, but you can also go in as a couple or a as a small group and get one of the best roasts in town. Fire win extra marks for their Christmas dinners as the whole restaurant is always buzzing as they lay on the festive charm! Just listen to this... Roulade of Irish turkey fillet with sausage, sage and onion stuffing encased in crisp Parma ham. Decadent mashed potato, smoked bacon sautéed sprouts and finished with a classic gravy.
