The Top 10 Places To Eat Outdoors On A Warm Day In Dublin

Nothing makes Dublin more special than a bit of sunshine in spring. It is as if we are all so miserable after traipsing around in the cold, dark rain all winter that the first few rays of sun are greeted by us all acting as if we'd just won the lottery and ripping off layers of clothes. It is also probably something to do with the fact that we all know it could be months before we see the next hot spell. If the good weather comes during the week and you are stuck in work then it is absolutely essential that you grab some lunch outdoors. With the mercury rising today we thought we'd help you out and pick the 10 best things to do when the sun shines in our little city.

10.Taphouse Roofgarden

You really have to sit on this rooftop terrace to understand just how good it is. Not only do they have good food and nice beers but the elevated vantage point makes it an amazing spot for people watching. You can sit up here creeping without people even knowing you are there.

9.Ely IFSC

The Ely in Grand Canal is good but we've gone for the IFSC branch because the terrace is so big, catches the sun perfectly and the food is amazing. On a sunny day you could easily be forgive for thinking you are sitting in Valencia or Barcelona.

8.Little Ass Burrito - St Stephens Green

So this ones involves grabbing a burrito in the wonderful little ass burrito on Dawson street and taking it up to one of the most beautiful parks in the world.

This little gem is a little off the beaten track in Terenure for most of the working folk but if you are lucky enough to have a weekday off this is the perfect place to grab some lunch and lap up some rays.

6.Marco Pierre White Dawson Street

One of the best known chefs in the world serves up decent steak and brasserie food on Dawson Street. Usually a little pricey but when the sun comes out and the canopy goes back you could do way worse than sitting here watching the world go by.

So this is a members club and not open to all (although you can go there for lunch) and they have one of the best terraces in the country that is a pure sun trap. Add in great WIFI, super food and wonderful service and lunch here can often turn into a lost afternoon.

4.Phoenix Park Tea Rooms

A little off the beaten track for those working in the city but with the sun shining and wildlife all over the place there is nothing nicer than a cup of tea and a little snack in here before walking around or just having a little rest in the park.

3.Howth - Octopussy Tapas

When I think of sun I think of Howth. The little seaside "village" feels like the south of France when the sun shines. Famous for it's fish you could pick any one of the cafes but the Tapas and casual seating outside Octopussy is the only place to be. Incredible.

2.Green Bench Cafe - Iveagh Gardens

Easily one of the best sandwiches in Dublin and you only have to look at the queues outside on a daily basis to see what people think of it. Get there early, grab an amazing sandwich and coffee and walk over to the quiet Iveagh gardens and enjoy Dublin at it's finest!

1.Poulet Bonne Femme Trinity

We voted this the best sandwich in Dublin recently but you can take it to another level on a sunny day and eat it al fresco in Trinity college. This experience is Dublin summed up in a nutshell for me.
