Michelle’s story
I was a nursing student in DCU trying to get a bit of part time work for some extra spondoolies to spend in Coppers, so I decided to go to open interviews in town for H&M.
You could wear whatever you wanted, but obviously the more stylish the better. I wore a dress from River Island OVER a pair of bootcut jeans, and rocked a pair of yellow cons to round it all off.
When the beautifully dressed and stunning interviewer asked me what influences my style, I responded with music.
And I mean that literally…
I actually started singing a Regina Spektor song in her face.
See, she’d never heard of her – this was back in 2009 – so I decided I’d give her a bar, feeling like I had it in the bag. She just looked at the glass of water on the table, wondering to herself: “Where did this absolute loon come from”
I stopped after the “oh yeah” part of ‘Hotel Song’, which later featured in that Vodafone ad, then immediately went scarlet as she informed me I was unsuccessful.Needless to say, I finished my degree and work as a nurse… not a singer.
Want Michelle to win?
We want this to be about the best story, and not just the best social media campaign for votes – so the winning entry will be decided by a combination of:
