Aoife’s story
I was applying to work in a small adventure park for children when I was 15, and the interview was set up by one of my friends who worked there.
She told me I’d be cleaning up and supervising the children which seemed A-OK to me. Easy money, right?
Wrong.
The interview started with the employer asking me if I’d ever worked with kids (babysitting counts surely?). I stupidly said yes.
Then he asked me had I ever done any art. I stupidly said yes.
He smiled at me and said “Okay, let’s throw you in at the deep end.”
He then picked a child from a crowd and asked me to FACEPAINT this child. The poor boy asked to be painted as an elephant, but it ended up looking like something a lot more inappropriate.I didn’t get the job – but I did get a lot of dirty looks, and tuts of disapproval!
Want Aoife to win?
We want this to be about the best story, and not just the best social media campaign for votes – so the winning entry will be decided by a combination of:
