This month, we’re giving away an amazing night for two in the Merrion Hotel, along with dinner and a specially chosen bottle of wine in The Cellar Bar. To find out more, and to vote for this story to win, see below!
In order to maintain my college drinking habit, I embarked on a mission to find a part time job.
One day, I received a call from a nearby shop about my CV and the manager arranged to meet me. Excited and nervous, I was determined to make my mark.
I strolled into the shop and I quickly recognised the lad behind the till… as the lad that I was with in Coppers the previous week.
After an extremely awkward attempt at small talk, he called the manager, who approached me with a handshake and beckoned me into the back room. As I sat down, she casually began by saying: “I see you know Mark. How do you know my son?”.
SON?!
Taken by horror, I stuttered out some pathetic excuse. But throughout the interview, I struggled to maintain eye contact with the mother of the son whom I engaged in a Jaegerbomb contest last Wednesday… and who wore my pink dressing gown the next morning.
The interview was strenuously painful on my behalf and my face resembled an attractive tomato.
As soon as the interview was finished, I fled the shop as fast as my legs would take me. I had made my mark, but not the ‘Mark’ I intended to make.
Want Emma to win?
We want this to be about the best story, and not just the best social media campaign for votes – so the winning entry will be decided by a combination of:
- Votes received on the form here
- The number of times each story is shared on Facebook
So share this story on Facebook, then click on the link to vote!
