Here are 16 apps you absolutely need if you live in Dublin.

Dublin Bus/Irish Rail/Journey Planner

We'll start with the basics. Public transport in Dublin is an unpredictable beast, so you really need all three of these apps to plan you way around and keep an eye on realtime travel updates. All are cross-platform: Dublin Bus, Android and iOS; Irish Rail, Android and iOS; and Journey Planner, Android and iOS.

Walk Dublin (iOS only)

Developed by Dublin City Council, this map of the city centre shows you interesting locations, buildings, institutions around Dublin, including favourite places, nearby places, and mysterious ‘hidden gems’.


For your late nights: order a taxi, track its progress and pay for it directly without fumbling around for cash. Both available on Android and iOS.

Dublin Walls (iOS only)

If history is your thing, this little app will show you the location of the original Dublin walls, showing you what parts are still in existence, whether above ground or under. It also contains some really lovely renderings of what old Dublin maps would have looked like.

Pint of Plain (iOS only)

Drinking on a budget? This app keeps track of the price for pints in Dublin city pubs and helps you find the cheapest.

Art Trax

Follow a trail of public art in the South of the city and see how Irish art and artists help shape the town. Available on Android and iOS.
