Christmas Pieces

@ Project Arts Centre

Settle into an evening of poetry and song and perhaps even shed a winter’s tear or two as Seán Dennehy shines a light into some of the darkest corners of Yuletide tidings. Clare born poet Dennehy is a former All Ireland Poetry Slam champion whose work generally explores time, place, love, loss and longing. Christmas Pieces is a festive follow up to his unmissable show Pieces, which also took place in the Project Arts Centre during March of this year.

Along with Seán Dennehy, Tim Dennehy and Irene O’Mara will perform a selection of music and spoken word focusing on lost love and remorse in a show designed to inject some hope into the midst of even the bleakest midwinter night.

Tickets €10

Smithfield Fair Pop-up Cinema: Miracle On 34th Street

Generator Hostel

An ideal treat for the kids if you’re heading into Smithfield for this big market this weekend!

When Doris Walker desperately searches for a replacement Santa to be in the famous Macy’s Christmas Parade, she hires Kris Kringle, who insists he’s the real deal. His sceptics (including Doris’s 6-year-old daughter, Susan) claim it couldn’t be true. He takes to the courts to prove it and what happens next truly is a Miracle On 34th Street. What better way to start your Christmas, than with this fantastic remake starring Richard Attenborough. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

This event is free with guaranteed entry.

You need to be registered to book, but rest assured, it won’t cost you a penny!
