Nothing like a lump sum landing in your bank account to make you want to go on the tear.
There’s a rake of different things going on across the city this weekend, but here’s our pick of the five best gigs and DJ sets to check out…
Friday
Move D and Shanti Celeste at Opium Rooms
David Moufang descends upon Opium tonight with a record bag full of tricks. If you’ve never seen this boss on the decks, you’re in for an absolute treat. NTS Radio’s Shanti Celeste will also be making her Dublin debut this evening. Get down.
Film at Filmbase
Vision Collector take over Filmbase for an evening of tasty techno from Dublin’s finest dark lords.
This is an early show that will be carrying on late into the night. Grab advance tickets here as there will be no tickets on the door.
Saturday
Dan Shake & Al Murphy at Wigwam
Moodymann’s label pal Dan Shake makes a welcome return to Dublin, this time at Motel, Bodytonic’s new weekly bash in the basement of Wigwam (formerly the Twisted Pepper).
Tasty venue, even tastier tunes and a lovely crowd. Get involved.
Pyg presents Joey Negro at Pygmalion
Joey Negro is the familiar alter ego of master British DJ/producer/remixer Dave Lee.
He’s used a rake of different names over the years including Jakatta, Akabu, Doug Willis, Raven Maize, The Sunburst Band and Z Factor. You can expect plenty of disco and old school house from this boyo.
Texture #1: Matthew Dekay and Ian O’Donovan
HomeBeat and Melodic are teaming up for this little doozy. There’ll be plenty of heartfelt house and electronica played by both Dekay and O’Donovan on the night.
Let the antics begin!
