5 Of The Best Things To Do In Dublin This Weekend

Sharron

The weekend has landed!

The horrors of last Saturday and Sunday seem a distant memory and let’s face it – it’s been a long week in the office.

From comedy gigs to a tree-hugging competition (no joke!), here are the five best things going on in our city this weekend.

1. Hermitage Green at The Olympia

Hermitage Green are coming back to The Olympia tonight. Already this year, the lads from Limerick have played alongside the likes of Gavin James, Josh Ritter, Walking On Cars and The Pogues so this gig is bound to be phenomenal. Doors for the gig open at 7pm. Their support act Steph Rainey will take to the stage at around 8pm while the band will perform to the crowds from about 9pm onwards.

2. Roddy Doyle at the Dublin Podcast Festival

This is bound to be very special.

The Dublin Podcast Festival is well underway but tonight’s feature is bound to be one of the highlights. Jarlath Regan, best known for the An Irishman Abroad podcast, will be taking the series live to the Tivoli Theatre alongside a very special guest. He’ll be interviewing the one and only Roddy Doyle in the Tivoli from 7:30pm.

3. Culture Night all over Dublin

Each year, the organisers of Culture Night absolutely outdo themselves and this time it’s no different.

From aerial acrobats to tree hugging, the city will be bustling with events tonight. Because we’re sound, we’ve a list of what’s happening in every corner of the city so you don’t miss a single thing.

4. Foil, Arms and Hog at The Abbey Theatre

This Friday is your last chance to catch this hilarious trio. It’s their last night performing at Dublin Fringe Festival before they take their Oink! tour across the country. Featuring a collection of songs for the elderly, a baggage handler’s interpretive dance and a shop that naively sells only balaclavas, this show is one that’ll have you splitting your sides laughing. The show kicks off from 10pm.

5. Canalophonic

The areas of Camden Street, Portobello and Rathmines will be brimming with fun this weekend as Canalophonic comes back to the city. This festival is always a bitta craic and with more than 100 acts participating over the weekend, you won’t be short of some good quality entertainment. Check out their full list of events here.
