7 Gorge Bits ‘N’ Bobs You Can Get From April And The Bear Right Now

Alana Laverty

Dublin boasts some of the best bits ‘n’ bob shops in Ireland.

Because if we know anything, it’s that we Irish love ‘stuff’.

From Designist and Tiger to Article and Stock – we could spend all of our wages on things we’ve never needed.

And we just happen to want everything from April and the Bear — Temple Bar’s beautiful lifestyle and design shop.

Here are seven lovely items you can currently pick up:

1. Squashed face print – €29

Jess Tobin, AKA Dublin illustrator and street artist Novice, created this groovy piece.

Jess studied in Ballyfermot College of Further Education and then did a degree in ceramic design at NCAD. She loves to draw fashion, faces and people and as you can see, is M A J O R L Y talented.

This super quality A3 print is printed onto white 200gsm Gesso paper, it measures 29 x 42 cm and is exclusive to April and the Bear.

2. Wire ring candleholder – €9

Each simple wire ring measures 30cm in diameter.

3. The Liffey Art print – €20

This art print shows the gloriously green Liffey River and the iconic Ha’penny Bridge. This Dublin print is by artist Daniel Seex and it is completely exclusive to April and the Bear and makes a really fantastic gift.

Daniel works primarily in pen and ink adding colour and texture digitally and often building a picture from multiple works. This allows his work to have a flexibility that is useful when it comes to illustration. When he’s not drawing on something Daniel is interested in trivia, vexillology (that’s flag geekery), history, chemistry and sharks.

This super quality print measures 27 x 34 cms and is printed on to 260 – 350 gm, linen art paper. Again, exclusive to April and the Bear.

4. Drink rocks – €38

These cool-looking shapes are called drink rocks and they keep your drinks cold without diluting them.

Deadly, right?

They are made from soapstone and marble and are designed to be chilled in your freezer before being popped into your evening cocktail.

They make a terrific gift for that Whiskey lover in your life and come in a set of four.

5. Chloe side table – €127

Ah side tables! Who would have thought they would be so integral to the home?

Hence the folks at April and the Bear are always hunting for the ultimate side table.

The right height, the right weight, the right colour and of course, a table that looks great. This black table from Bloomingville ticks ALL the boxes, it measures 45 x 50cm, the design is stunning AND the little loop at the top means that it can be easily moved around which is super handy. 6. ‘Nope’ mug – €12

Featuring a rather dejected-looking lady lying on the ground, who is entirely over EVERYTHING, we absolutely love this mug illustrated by the oh-so-talented Gemma Correll.

Gemma is an English illustrator famous for drawing pugs, cats and for documenting her life as an extreme introvert.

All mugs are made of the very finest bone China. They allow you to have your tea or coffee in dosages of 325ml, which we hope you’ll agree is an adequate amount.

7. Purple marble hardback notebook – €15

Looking for the coolest stationery in town? Look no further than this beautiful hardback A4 notebook featuring copper foiling detail.

The metallic edges add a touch of extra class … for when you’re in class… or the office.

The pages alternate between lined and plain paper so we’ve got you covered whether you’re a doodler or hardcore note taker.
