Plans have just been released by the Dublin Airport Authority revealing that one billion euro is now being spent on developing a ‘city’ in North Dublin.

Known as ‘Dublin Airport Central‘, the hi-tech project is hoped to attract Irish and international tenants.

According to a report in The Sunday Business Post, the project will take 15 years to complete and be one of the country’s largest ever building projects, at 3.2 million square foot in size.

The authority told the newspaper:

Since 2013, the DAA has stated it intends to redevelop a 70 acre site at the airport over a 25-30 year time frame […] The site in question, which has high technology zoning, is not required for direct airport operations.

Dublin Airport Central will be primarily made up of new offices, but will also have cafés, shops, hotels, and leisure facilities.
