Appeal For 40 Women Aged 16 To 26 To Grace The Stage Of The Gaiety Theatre

Alana Laverty

Ever fancied performing on the beautiful stage of the Gaiety Theatre?

Well, now you can.

Dublin Theatre Festival and Actors Tour Company are looking for 40 women between the ages of 16 and 26 to star in The Suppliant Women.

The young women have the main role in the play; they enter at the very beginning seeking refuge, and don’t leave the stage until the end of the play when they are welcomed into the city.

You will work with Ramin Gray, John Browne and Sasha Milavic Davies to develop the acting, singing and choreography that will all be performed on stage.

Commitment-wise?

Sunday August 13 there will be  a recruitment session followed by an afternoon rehearsal for those who are given parts in the chorus.

From Friday August 18 your involvement requires you to be available for every Friday evening and all day every Saturday.

From Friday September 22 participants must commit to rehearsals every evening and all day Saturday 23 and Sunday 24. This is for technical rehearsals.

The performances will take place at the following times:

Wednesday September 27 – Friday September 29 at 7.30pm

Saturday September 30 at 2.30pm and at 7.30pm.

Sunday October 1 at 2.30pm.

Participants must be able to commit to at least 5 of the 6 performances.
