Bad News For Commuters – A Dublin Bus Strike Could Be On The Horizon

Alana Laverty

The possibility of 24 hour and 48 hour stoppages, and even the possibility of an indefinite all-out Dublin Bus strike is looming.

In which over 334,000 passengers would be affected. Daily.

SIPTU have said that a 95% majority, of more than 1,160 drivers, backed both industrial action and strike action.

The drivers are looking for a 15pc pay rise.

Over recent years, both passenger numbers and revenue have increased for Dublin Bus, after it returned to profitability in November 2014.

So it’s no wonder that drivers seek a fair conclusion to this ongoing pay dispute.

SIPTU will complete a full ballot next Tuesday which will determine whether strikes will go ahead later this month.
