With more plant-based cafés and restaurants popping up all over the city all the time, it’s never been easier to eat vegan. Especially when it comes to takeaways – gone are the days where you had to settle for chips with a side of chips while your mates were living it up in pizza heaven. The best bit is they taste just like the real thing too - from burgers to brownies, read on for a list of our favourite vegan junk food places in Dublin…
1. McGuinness's Takeaway, Camden Street
This fab chipper in town has a dedicated vegan menu with everything from battered burgers to pizza and kebabs and they’re really, really good. Once you’ve tried it, you’ll never look back.
2. Póg, Bachelors Walk
Treat yourself to one of the many vegan options on Póg’s all-day brunch menu. If you’ve got a bit of a sweet tooth you’ve got to try the vegan banana bread or their signature pancakes which has its own dedicated menu of toppings.
3. Aperitivo, Temple Bar
If you’ve been searching for a really great vegan pizza, this place won't let you down. They’ve got a dedicated vegan pizza menu that includes vegan pesto sauce and even a meat feast option. If you’ve got room left over, you can finish up with their delish vegan chocolate cake.
4. Happy Food, Camden Court
This plant-based restaurant recreates all your favourite takeaway dishes – you guessed it – without the meat. They’ve got burgers, deep fried ribs, pad thai - basically anything you could want and it all looks and tastes seriously good.
5. Veginity, Dorset Street Upper
You might recognise these guys from their incredibly popular food truck stints in Portobello and at Eat Yard and now they’ve got their very own restaurant in Dublin 1 that does a roaring trade in brunch and dinner. Try their Kentucky Fried Kiev Waffle and finish with one of their decadent desserts and you’ll wonder why you didn’t go sooner.
6. Cornucopia, Wicklow Street
Their Spiced Dish of the Day with Rice has was voted the best vegan takeaway dish in Dublin according to Deliveroo – the perfect excuse to add this one to your must-try list.
7. Paulie's Pizza, Grand Canal Street Upper
Their wood fired pizzas are some of the best in town, not least their unreal Vegan Pizza complete with vegan mozzarella.
