We wrote about Bread And Bones a few months ago, it's a great little spot in the Italian Quarter that serves up killer Asian broths, banh mi and bao in a relaxed setting.
So we were only delighted to hear that they had given their menu a bit of a shakeup this week with some intriguing new dishes on the menu. They've taken a few of their broths off the menu and replaced them with some more filling, wintery dishes...
There's a load of new additions to the menu but here's some of the stars.
Chicken Katsu Curry
A nice twist on the classic with individually breaded portions of chicken served with perfectly fluffy rice.
Thai Green Seafood Curry
This delightful dish is full of squid, mussels and prawns from Wright's of Marino.
Big Pig Banh Mi
A Vietnamese baguette stuffed with three forms of bacon - BBQ Pork, crispy bacon, roasted pork belly, as well as pickled vegetables and garlic mayo. Sweet baby jesus.
Monster Kimchi Fries
A dish so big you'll be struggling to finish it - fries, topped with kimchi, sliced hanger steak, burnt ends, fried egg, garlic mayo and coriander. Serious food porn!
Ice-Cream Filled Bao-Wich
Love a good steamed bun? Try this sweeter version with a generous dollop of ice-cream inside. The stuff dreams are made of.
Chatting to Jack Fox, one of the brains behind Bread and Bones he had this to say about the new dishes:
A lot of our new dishes, like the Monster Kimchi Fries, Big Pig Banh Mi and the Ice-Cream filled bao-wich are things that we always wanted from the start but just didn't have the room on our menu - but we've managed to squeeze them in now.
Similarly, our Malaysian Head Chef Caat has been keen to show off some of his home made curry sauce recipes so with winter on the way, we felt there wasn't a better time to get some Beef Panang and Thai Green Seafood Curry on the menu.
I have one word of advice for you, if you're nursing a sore-head this weekend: get thee to Bread & Bones - the monster kimchi fries and ice-cream bao-wich will see you right!
