Check Out This Amazing Laid-Back Spot For After-Work Drinks Tonight
There are loads of new bars opening up in Dublin at the moment but none are quite like this little place I discovered last weekend. Situated along the Grand Canal, right opposite The Barge Pub, The Canal Club is best described as a combination of a house party and a little music festival.
From the outside the Canal Club looks like a small cottage with a benched smoking area attached to it. It has three areas inside - the front smoking area which has wooden benches and tables, the sitting room which consists of couches, dining room table and chairs and the back area which feels like a mini festival arena with a DJ playing in the corner.
The atmosphere is pretty relaxed, so you can rock up in jeans and flats without feel underdressed, and you can enjoy a few drinks with your mates without the stress of going into town. Run by the guys behind BD Festival, which takes place on Good Friday each year, you're guaranteed good music at The Canal Club with their resident DJ playing whopper sets each weekend. You can pop in for one or two drinks on your way to town, but you might end up staying there the whole night - either way it's worth checking it out!
If you head to The Canal Club straight from work, they've even got you sorted with soakage for the night ahead with hotdogs on offer which come in a proper french roll with all the trimmings.
The Canal Club is the perfect hangout for a few after-work drinks on a Friday, or as the starting point for a daytime drinking sesh on a Saturday. If you're a fan of good music, a relaxed atmosphere and a lovely crowd this is the place for you. Check it out this weekend, you won't be disappointed!
