PICS: We Took A Sneak Peek At Chupi’s Brand New A/W 2017 Collection

Alana Laverty

If you’ve ever been fortunate enough to visit Chupi in Atrium (formerly MADE) in the Powerscourt Townhouse, then you’ll know what an absolute gem it is.

Chupi’s Autumn/Winter 2017 launch takes place tomorrow, Thursday evening, so I decided to pop in today to give you guys a sneak preview of what will be unveiled tomorrow.

If you’re anything like me (a total magpie), prepare to fall head over heels for all of the sparkling and glowing pieces.

My personal obsession with the wonderful Chupi runs deep, but if you’re not familiar with Chupi Sweetman and her backstory, take a quick read of the following:

“I was the kid covered in glitter & glue, the one making some new crazy things out of papier mâché, I never thought I’d end up making beautiful sparkly jewellery as my career.

When I was 21 I was scouted by Topshop from my first year in college, the youngest designer to ever to work with the brand. I went from scruffy student to serious designer overnight and I loved it.

After six years in fast fashion I wanted to create something that would last, to celebrate Ireland’s design heritage and my love for wild and natural beauty. I’ve always been fascinated by jewellery, how serious jewellery marks a moment in your life. I fell in love with sparkly things; now every piece I make has a story, it’s where the magic is.”

A visit to Chupi is like meeting up with a dear friend for drinks.

You feel great afterwards — buzzing with energy and joy — if not slightly poorer.

Today, however, I was strictly there on business – get in, chat, drool over the precious pieces and get out with my wallet having firmly remained in my bag the entire time.

And it was a success.

Well, kind of. Because tonight all I’ll be dreaming about are opals and how many beautiful ones I saw with Chupi herself today…

Solid gold and opal Hope and Magic Ring (€349)

The above pieces also come in grey diamond and moonstone versions – which are just as beautiful as they sound.

Next up on my wish-list from the A/W collection are the darling We Are All Made Of Stars necklaces which come in solid gold and solid white gold (both €449).

Chupi 2

The ultimate gift… or a very special treat yo’self.

Chupi made these beauts to mark the precious constellations we are each born under – a little moment of magic.

Each constellation is composed of tiny dots on a hand shaped disc, some bigger and some smaller each marking a star. A tiny diamond sparkles on the reverse, a symbol of strength.

Isn’t that just pure lovely?

Ella Eyre and Kelis have both been spotted sporting the statement piece and Marie Claire crowned it THE jewellery piece of the season. How feckin’ impressive and exciting is that?

Some of the world’s top blogger and Instagrammers have managed to get their hands on one too…

I feel like with every collection Chupi is just constantly outdoing herself, without ever losing her original uniqueness, special touches and personability. She is so passionate and believes wholeheartedly in the magic of jewellery and all of the sentiments that surround each individual piece.

Leaving the best for last, feast your eyes upon the Love Conquers All lockets:

These beauties come in solid sterling silver with gold plating (€199) and solid sterling silver (€189).

According to Chupi, lockets have long been used to hold precious secrets and this one holds one of the most important things we need to remember – that Love Conquers All.

The words are hand-engraved in Latin, Omnia Vincit Amor, inside a precious locket as a secret reminder that only you will know and is set with a sparkling translucent topaz gemstone.

Atrium x Chupi

The story behind the top floor Powerscourt Townhouse space itself is an incredible one.

Atrium takes up one whole side of the historic building, but before it was Atrium it was a number of shops and cafes that just couldn’t make it work. The gals chose the space, despite people telling them that they were crazy and being terrified out of their mind, but they persevered.

Bespoke Italian-made gold cabinets and rails, champagne blush carpeting, Chupi jewellery box grey walls (specially matched by Dulux) and cascading lush green plants make up the appropriately named Atrium – one of the most special spots in all of Dublin.
