Commuters Dealt With 30-Minute Delays Today After This Level Crossing Crash

seank

There was bad news for anyone travelling to Maynooth by train this morning as a vehicle damaged the Barberstown level crossing, causing 30-minute delays.

The driver was caught on camera damaging the barrier with a digger, which was being hauled behind the car, and driving away from the scene.

Iarnród Éireann later released the footage.

A spokesperson for Iarnród Éireann told Independent.ie,

The barrier has been replaced and there was not lasting damage, but unfortunately commuters faced half an hour of unnecessary delays because one driver was reckless.

If you have any information concerning the incident, please contact the Gardaí.
