Consultation On Re-Design Of Dublin Bus’ Network Launching This Morning

A consultation based around the re-design of Dublin’s bus network is set to be launched this morning.

Following a steep rise in the city’s population, which leads to long commutes and fuller buses, the capital’s public transport system is currently facing a number of difficulties that are hoping to be resolved by the help of the public.

To create some welcome change, the powers-that-be are turning to the buses most frequent users – the general public.

Bus users will soon be able to have their say in the transport network’s revamp with a detailed online survey set to launch in the coming days.

Transport Planning Specialist with the Dublin Bus Network, Jarrett Walker mentions the main issue they’ll be taking into consideration upon redesigning:

“It all comes down to one issue, there’s one central issue coming up in everything we talk about. And that is that the cost-effective way to create a bus system that serves more people and gets them more places sooner involves asking people to change buses more often.

“That is the essence of the challenge.”
