A brand new documentary was just released on the RTÉ Player and it’s definitely worth the watch.
Cranes vs Creatives takes a look at the Dublin club scene along with art studios, markets and community spaces and how they ‘are being squeezed out due to redevelopment and impossible rent increases. Some spaces are being demolished completely and lost forever’.
It follows stories from iconic places such as The Bernard Shaw, The Dublin Flea Market, Dublin Digital Radio and Club Comfort to find out what is happening to the city.
With so many hotels and student accommodation popping up, we are in danger of losing the heart of the city.
Check out the short documentary here.
The Bernard Shaw was recently refused planning permission and you will hear from Johnny Brennan who is a resident DJ there and started the petition to save The Bernard Shaw which has over 24,000 signatures so far.
