Dublin Area To Be Transformed In Major New Investment Plan

James Fenton

The north Co. Dublin area of Balbriggan is set to get a major facelift as part of a €20m investment plan, The Herald reports.

The rejuvenation project will include a heritage trail, a skate park, free town centre wifi and a new harbour for the seaside town. The plans have been drawn up by Fingal County Council and the Balbriggan Leadership Group with the intention of ‘future growth in the coming years.’

Fingal County Council chief executive Paul Reid said that ‘the plan goes much deeper than public spaces and amenities’ and added that ‘it will involve every area of local lives – employment, education, skills, local economy and enterprise, and community affairs and integration.’

€10m of the allocated money will go towards the completion of the Balbriggan to Skerries Greenway, the development of Bremore Castle and upgrades to cycleways and amenities in the town.
