Joe Duffy received this picture on Monday which shows the grim state that this Dublin road was left in following a weekend event.
The ‘Rock and Roll’ half marathon took place on Sunday and there was thousands of empty plastic bottles lined up beside the curb.
The littering, which took place on the Tower Road Castleknock beside the Phoenix Park, went on for about one kilometre.
A resident sent us this image of litter on Tower Road Castleknock beside the Phoenix Park after the “Rock and Roll” half marathon yesterday. There were thousands of empty plastic bottles dumped on both sides of the road for about a kilometre. @joeliveline #Liveline pic.twitter.com/jvZuwKQgLU

Rory Cowan of Mrs. Brown Boys fame said that the littering was “filthy” and that something had to be done about it immediately.
“We can rant and rave about litter all we like, but it’s obvious that most people couldn’t care less about littering.”
Another commenter said that people should start filming anyone they see littering in order to name and shame those who are to blame.
This image was taken yesterday afternoon after the clean up. The Liffey Valley is destroyed. There is also small pieces of plastic all over the hedgerows. pic.twitter.com/rJECcTAX0e

Even after a big clean up took place, there was still pieces of litter emerging from the bushes.
Lads, put your shit in the bin.
