Dublin-Based Liverpool And Roma Fans Have Organised A Solidarity Event For This Weekend

James Fenton

Dublin-based supporters of Liverpool FC and AS Roma are coming together at Murray’s Bar on O’Connell Street this Sunday in support of critically injured Irishman Sean Cox.

Mr. Cox, a Liverpool supporter, was attacked outside the club’s Anfield Stadium ahead of the two sides’ Champions League semi-final last month. On Sunday, both clubs will be in action on the big screens in the popular Dublin sports bar with Liverpool facing Brighton & Hove Albion at 3pm followed by Roma v Juventus at 7.45pm.

The event is being organised by Irish Liverpool Reds and AS Roma Ireland and fans of the Italian side will hand over €500 to the Sean Cox fund which has been put in place to help the victim’s family with medical costs.

Earlier today, the Cox family released a statement via Liverpool FC to confirm that Sean remains in critical condition and that they have ‘been overwhelmed and humbled by the support we have received since Sean was so badly hurt two weeks ago.’
