49-year old Portrane man, Joseph Kennedy, who admitted to killing his neighbour’s noisy and relentless rooster, has informed a court of law he was at his “wit’s end” when he murdered the bird.

According to Dublin Live, Kennedy killed the bird by breaking into his neighbour’s home, grabbing it by the neck and repeatedly hitting it off a wall. The gruesome incident was caught by a CCTV camera.

The accused admitted to an animal cruelty offence at Swords District Court last week.

Upon killing the bird, Mr Kennedy also took it with him upon leaving his neighbour’s home. This means that he was also charged with the theft of the rooster, and two counts of trespassing.

The case has been adjourned until May 15, as Judge Dempsey says that he would like to see probation reports before sentencing the accused.
