Dublin Might Be Getting A Cereal Café And People Aren't Too Happy About It
"What's the point of hipster shit if it's two years behind? Open somewhere that sells chips in trócaire boxes."
Last week The Guardian's travel section described our beloved Stoneybatter as "something of a little Williamsburg by the Liffey", much to the disgust of anyone who actually lives in the area.
Now, don't get us wrong, pop-ups bring colour and excitement to our city, but do we really need a café where a bowl of cereal is going to set us back the guts of a fiver?!
From a quick glance at social over the past 24 hours it seems that lots of people are of this opinion...
A cafe dedicated to selling solely cereal to open in Dublin... pic.twitter.com/9krFsCnwKV— Craig G Mo 🌱🌷 (@craig_g_mo) February 4, 2016
Dublin is getting both a Cereal Cafe and a Cat Cafe. Further proof that this economic recovery is the same as Thatchers one in the 80s.— Rubber Bandits (@Rubberbandits) February 4, 2016
The Cereal Killer Café is coming to Stoneybatter? Don't think it'll fly in Dublin. Or at least, I hope not.— James Kelleher (@etienneshrdlu) February 3, 2016
Some people are calling hypocrisy on the whole thing
It's crazy that people are making an issue about the cereal cafe coming to Dublin but a creme egg cafe is totally ok?! Come on!— Maria M (@Maria_TeaRex) February 3, 2016
However, we'd be sorted for a name if it actually does go ahead...
I want to open a cereal cafe in Dublin called the Bertie Bowl— Marty McTweets (@martymctweets) March 11, 2015
So whatcha reckon?
Would you be in favour of a Cereal Killer café in Dublin, or would you be part of the anti-gentrification brigade protesting against it?
