Darragh Berry

A fugitive who had been on the run since escaping from a Dublin jail at the start of June has finally been caught.

The man in question went on the run almost two weeks ago after fleeing while waiting for a court appearance.

Before he escaped on June 13, he was being held at Cloverhill Prison and Gardai arrested the man while carrying out a search in Crumlin.

The prison escapee is also wanted for questioning regarding an alleged sexual assault which took place in South Dublin last week.

The incident occured in the victim’s apartment on Cork Street in Dublin 8 on June 18.

The victim was threatened at knifepoint while a sex attack was carried out.

The well-known criminal became the chief suspect in the case with sources saying that the Gardaí were confident that they had identified the man responsible for the attack.

Gardaí are appealing for potential witnesses to the attack to come forward.
