Finally – It’s Going To Become Easier To Get A Taxi In The Capital

Darragh Berry

Sick of not being able to get a taxi in the capital, ever? Well. it looks like that is all about to change.

The National Transport Authority (NTA) has launched a campaign which hopes to recruit 1,600 new taxi drivers in Ireland.

Applying is really easy as all you need is a clean driving license as the organisation look to provide a more positive taxi experience for the Irish public.

As it stands, there is about 26,000 licensed drivers in Ireland but they hope this extra boost would see shortages at peak hours and weekend nights, fixed forever.

Applicants will have to do a SPSV entry test which costs €90 and will also have to pass a background Garda check.

A license costs €250 for five years and if you think the taxi life might be for you, you can apply on the NTA website here.
