Dublin’s coast is about to get a whole lot safer for those of the bi-wheeled persuasion – as the Sutton to Sandycove cycleway is set to be opened this morning by Lord Mayor of Dublin, Brendan Carr.

According to Dublin Live, the new cycle lane spreads along a 2km section, with 4km of footpaths, with additional and updated public lighting.

Speaking before the opening, Anne Graham, Chief Executive Officer of the National Transport Authority, said:

“The cycleway the Lord Mayor is opening today is an excellent example of the positive results that can be achieved when agencies – in this case NTA, Dublin City Council and Irish Water – work together towards a shared objective.”

“This segment of the Sutton to Sandycove project will not only provide a safer environment for cyclists from Clontarf and surrounding areas who use their bike to get to work, but will be of great amenity benefit to families, locals and visitors alike.”
