Not sure what to do this weekend? The good news is there’s loads on, so keep reading and start making some plans…
Artist Conversations at IMMA: Duncan Campbell
Duncan Campbell discusses his current exhibition at IMMA with Dr Maeve Connolly (Lecturer, IADT) this Saturday at 2pm. Campbell’s film works blend the inherent promise of storytelling with the breakdown of narrative and meaning. Campbell lives and works in Glasgow and was recently announced Turner Prize Winner 2014, so this will be a very current and interesting discussion.
Darling
A year ago Irish duo, Darling, locked themselves in a room for a few months to focus on their music, and it appears to have been worth it. Under the guidance of Stephen Lipson, their songwriting has been produced to the highest standard with a glossy finish. They will perform live in the Sugar Club this Saturday for the first time since the release of their EP, so don’t miss out.
Live Love Laugh with Eilish O’Carroll
Best known as Winnie McGoogan in her brother Brendan’s successful BBC sitcom, ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’, Eilish comes into her own with this show in the DraoÃcht Theatre for one night only. It is a reflective look on an eventful life that includes a strict Catholic upbringing, two failed marriages and coming out as a lesbian at the age of 50. While poignant and deeply moving, it is also packed with unreal humour.
Isaac Tichauer & Lane 8
One of the golden boys of the French Express label, Isaac Tichauer is a household name for fans of majestic, casual-style house. An extremely talented producer, his sets tend to feature sneaky plays of his French Express brothers, so expect ambient house and the odd Jonas Rathsman track on Friday night.
