If you're not sure what to do for the weekend and starting to worry that you have no plans, then worry not. We have rounded up some top events with something for the big kids and something for those in need of something a bit more thought provoking. Read on for our top picks...
The big excitement of Christmas for kids is surely writing a letter to Santa in anticipation of new toys. With that in mind, the Dublin Toy Fair is the mecca of all things fun, with a giant collection of every toy imaginable to play with (as well as purchase), it’s like a five day long Late Late Toy Show that you can interact with. Add to that the Santa Claus experience where you can meet the man himself, you would have to have organs of coal not to enjoy yourself. Check it out in the RDS this weekend before it finishes up on Sunday.
Are you sick of spending your evenings swiping on Tinder, or stuck in a cul-de-sac of inane chat on Plenty of Fish? If so, this play was made for you… Singlehood is a hilarious and uplifting play that explores and celebrates the fine art of being single. Una McKevitt and David Coffey teamed up, and interviewed a host of singletons from all walks of life before devising this play based on their stories. Life-affirming, moving, and cringey at times this one will lift your spirits. Start your weekend early tonight by checking it out in The Pavillion Theatre.
This Greedy Pig & Choice Cuts have decided to collaborate on this one, and the results are amazing. The Sugar Club will play host to an Eglo Records showcase tomorrow night, bringing Floating Points, Alexander Nut and Fatima over for a night of sweet, sweet music. The Sugar Club is the perfect venue for this; ample seating for the live performance from Fatima and her band and just enough space on the dance floor to witness the musical stylings of Floating Points & Alexander Nut at a mere arms’ length.
Winner of the Spirit of the Fringe at the Dublin Fringe Festival 2011, Follow is a one man show that views Irish life from the perspective of the deaf community. Utilising light, sign language and performance in original and interesting ways, Follow is a play that deals with important but often ignored issues in a provocative way. It will be running in the Abbey Theatre until the 6th December.
Bodytonic are running their Tipple Town Cocktail Festival until the 30th November and as part of it they have 3 of London's best cocktail bars over running workshops in MVP on Clanbrassil Street, from 3-6pm Thurs, Fri and Saturday.
