Everything You Need To Know About Dublin’s Latest And Coolest Workout Class

Alana Laverty

I would consider myself a reasonably fit person.

But nothing could’ve prepared me for what I ensued when I signed up for a Pound Fit class out in Dundrum.

I could barely walk downstairs let alone climb upstairs the following day.

Pound Fit works nearly every muscle in your body. But does it feel like a workout? Nope, not at all.

The tunes are blaring, the disco lights are poppin’ and Carla, the instructor, has enough energy to keep the entire class awake.

It’s such good craic.

The class is a mixture of working out, dancing and drumming – as the name would suggest, the entire workout is inspired by drumming!

The sticks we used are known as Ripstix and they are lightly weighted to help you burn calories and tone up while rocking out to your favourite tunes.

It really is the perfect workout for any music-lover.

Here’s all you need to know about the classes:

City centre: Aungier Street YMCA, Mondays @ 7pm & 8pm.

Dundrum: Yoga Dublin at Balally Luas stop, Thursdays @ 8.15pm.

Bray: Wolf Tone Youth Centre, Vevay Road, Wednesdays @ 8.15pm.

Classes are only a tenner and all you need to bring is a yoga matt and a bottle of water!

And a rockstar attitude, of course.
