Expect Disruptions As Work Begins On New LUAS Tracks This Week

Construction of a new LUAS track line has begun on O'Connell Street this morning.

The roadworks will mean the extension of the ban on cars travelling through College Green from 7am to 7pm on weekdays during the construction's initial stage, allowing for the movement of buses and taxis only.

Due for completion in 2017, the €368 million line will connect the Green and Red lines, and it will have stops at Grangegorman, Phibsborough, Cabra, and terminate in Broombridge.

While a project of this scale will inevitably involve some level of disruption, communication and co-operation between those responsible for the delivery of the project and stakeholders means that this is being kept to a minimum.

It will be 10 to 12 weeks before the rail tracks will be put in place.
