lovinmanchester

Chirstmas time, mistletoe and wine, and wine, and more wine…

There’s something about the season that brings out the glutton in us all. So much so that there’s an accompanying tradition of making stark resolutions to get one’s life back on track after all the festivities.

It doesn’t all have to be left to the familiar cycle of splurge-then-purge – why not get proactive and get those resolutions started early?

We’ve made a handy list of some wholesome, cultural events you might want to sink your teeth into. Enjoy!

Dance Classes

Looking for the perfect way to combine a workout, gaining new skills and a buzzing social event? These classes are ideal for new and experienced dancers alike. With a range of styles including salsa, bachata or kizomba, there’s a host of different ways to get in shape!

There’s no need to bring a partner along with you to these classes, as you rotate throughout the class, making it a great way to get to know everybody. A great way to branch out and try something new!

Mexican Cooking Class

Ever wanted to try out real Mexican cooking? As well as having awesome aromas and flavours, Mexican cooking is very social with lots of passing plates, sharing food and using your hands so it’s an ideal cuisine to tackle in a cooking class.

At the Cafe Azteca you can learn how to make fresh corn tortillas, sopes, quesadillas, guacamole, pico de gallo salsa, plus many more salsas and tips on a two hour course that includes lunch and dinner. This is a relaxed and fun environment to expand your cooking skills!

Tapas Trail Dublin Food And Wine Tour

This trail involves a delicious modern Twist on the traditional Spanish style of eating, drinking
and socialising. As part of this tour you’ll visit Italian, Spanish, Cuban and Moroccan restaurants, exploring the atmosphere of Dublin’s streets, restaurants and cafés while you relax and meet new friends, or just unwind after work.

There’s a lot going on with this event: you’ll not only get a whopper spread of tapas in three fantastic restaurants, a glass of wine at each venue, but also a guided three hour tour of Dublin about the history and the culture of the city.

Escape Game: The Jail Break

A more full on but rewarding challenge! Xit is brewing up something fresh in the form of the first live escape games in Ireland. This one involves being trapped in the highest security prison in the world – if you disobey the rules of society, they send you to jail; if you disobey the rules of the game, they send you here.

You’ll have to use all your cunning and teamwork to get out. Get a team of 2-6 people together and opt for a fun, healthy day out that nobody will forget in a hurry for all the right reasons!

Where The Heart Is

This is taking place at the very end of the month but it involves some prep – have you ever been interested in having your name in an art exhibition? This is a great opportunity to let your creative juices flow while helping towards a great cause.

Where The Heart Is is a one-night sale of original art to raise money for the homeless. Submit a piece you’ve come up with, something lying around the house, or rustle some paint together and get a canvas on the go.

If you’re interested in exhibiting your art handiwork but are put off by the exclusivity of the art world, then check this one out!
