Choicecuts presents The Bomb Squad (Public Enemy)
The Bomb Squad served as the Producer and Executive Producer for Public Enemy, one of the greatest hip hop groups to ever have existed. This evening will feature a Prophets of Rage Documentary, Q&A with Hank Shocklee (the head honcho at The Bomb Squad) followed by DJ set all in the cool surrounds of The Sugar Club.
Michael Mayer
This guy is a bit of a boss, not only is he a a DJ and producer but he’s also a co-owner of the amazing Kompakt Records and he has remixed the likes of Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Foals and Rufus Wainwright. If his most recent Boiler Room is anything to go by, we’re in for a treat at Opium Rooms tonight.
Saturday
F.O.E: Sunil Sharpe, Paul Birken and Headless Horseman
This gig is not for the fainthearted as three techno heavyweights take to Hangar for a night of pounding beats. F.O.E stands for Friends of Earwiggle, and Earwiggle have been on the Irish techno scene for a long time with numerous releases. With two Irish debut appearances from Paul Birken and Headless Horseman, and a set from homegrown Sunil Sharpe this promises to be an absolute belter.
Bodytonic Present: Colin Stetson & Sarah Neufeld
Colin and Sarah have both enjoyed success as affiliates of Arcade Fire (Stetson’s a frequent producer/player, Neufeld’s a former full-time member and current touring member) but they have been collaborating together as an imporv jazz duo since 2010. They have released a brand new collaborative album called Never were the way she was. This is sure to be an incredible night of performance.
Sunday
HOME Sunday Party
The lads from Home are throwing a shindig in the beer garden of the Bernard Shaw for anyone looking for a silly Sunday. They’ll have music from 5pm, and it will be nothing but the finest disco, funk and house. You can chill with your pals, play some pool, grab pizza and shisha on the Big Blue Bus whilst in complete denial of having any responsibilities for Monday morning.
