Culture Night is one of the best events of the year and there are more events than ever to before check out this year. We have created a list of the best events taking place across every corner of Dublin City on the night of September 22nd.
We are super stoked for all of these:
-Ableton Push Playground 6pm-10pm:
This is the perfect event for all you music heads. Ableton certified trainer Martin Clancyand his crew will be there to help you create your own electronic music. The event will take place in the Sound Training Centre, Temple Bar.
-The Icon Walk & Icon Factory 5pm-11pm:
The Icon Walk will take you through the biggest public art installation in Dublin. Some of Ireland's best artists, musicians and writers will have their work being showcased so this is definitely one that you won't want to miss. It will take place in Cow's Lane, Temple Bar.
-The Gaiety School Of Acting 4pm-10pm:
The students of Gaiety School of Acting will be doing an on-street performance and it is going to be class. They will also be running free acting workshops for anyone who wants to give acting a go. This will be taking place for the duration of the evening, starting from 4pm.
-Buswells Hotel 6pm-7pm:
A cabaret inspired, literary dinner celebrating the life and works of James Joyce will take place on Molesworth St. This dinner will include soliloquies and folk music along with a little drama.
-Viva 5pm-11pm:
This is the perfect opportunity to be immersed in Spanish culture. Viva restaurant on Richmond St, Portobello will showcase a night of Flamenco dancing and classical guitar playing. To top it all off there will be some bangin' tapas and Spanish wine. (yes please!)
-Conradh na Gaeilge 6pm-10pm:
Sure isn't Culture Night only the perfect opportunity to get clued into Irish culture and history? Conradh na Gaeilge will be doing a tour around their building where Michael Collins and Eamon De Valera once worked. You'll be able to brush up on your Gaeilge and also listen to some traditional Irish music over a pint of Guinness in the bar downstairs.
-Windmill Lane Recording Studios 6pm-10pm:
The famous Windmill Lane Recording Studio on Ringsend Road will open its door to the public and provide some musical entertainment on the night. This will be an ideal event for any U2 fans as it is where they recorded most of their albums.
-Rás Curach ar an Life 5.30pm-6.30pm:
Currach racing on the Liffey will be a good one to watch. The 2km race will start at Custom House Quay toward the Ha'penny Bridge and back.
-Flying Turtle Productions 6pm-11pm:
If you want to try something a little different, this is the one for you. This will be a live participatory show where the audience will be guided through a series of hurdles and events. It is sure to be a brilliant event.
-Light House Cinema 5pm-11pm:
One of favourite spots in Dublin to watch a movie is the Light House in Smithfield. This year for Culture Night there will be a live read-through of famous movie scenes and animation workshops.
-The Elbowroom Wellness Centre 9pm:
The Elbowroom in Stoneybatter is known for being one of the best yoga spots in Dublin. There will be taster classes running throughout the evening that will explore the health benefits of yoga.
- Masamba Samba School 7pm-10pm:
This event is going to be a mixture of samba and sculpturing. Artist Darren Brady will be showcasing his Celtic, mythical art while projections and music fill the room. We are sure this one will be memorable. This will take place on Bows Lane, Kilmainham.
-Dublin Castle 5pm-10pm:
This flagship event will be one of the highlights of Culture Night for sure. Presented by RTÉ, Dublin Castle will have lots going on, from an open-air concert to talks and workshops. There will also be live radio programmes and lots of craic.
-Dublin Food Co-op 5pm-10.30pm:
Sure there's no better way to celebrate culture than to try some delicious treats from across the world. Dublin Food Co-op will be hosting a night-time market with growers and producers which will include talks about growing food, a movie screening and a bit of music. This will take place in 12 Newmarket Square.
- O Shea's Merchant 8pm-1am:
There will be professional Genealogists at this event giving talks about tracing your family history, which will be awesome. They will also talk you through the history of the Medieval Quarter of the City and help you discover who your ancestors were.
- GAA Museum 5-10.30pm:
If you have ever wanted to learn a little bit more about Croke Park there will be free guided tours on the night and there are said to be surprises in store. You have to book these tours in advance so get moving! - crokepark.ie/gaamuseum
-The Open University @ The Winding Stair 6pm-7.30pm:
A night of music, poetry and pros will be on the cards at The Winding Stair Bookshop on Lower Ormond Quay. There will be lots of talent on the night including sets from Siobhan Campbell and Nessa O'Mahoney.
-A4 Sounds on Screen @ Blessington Court 6pm-10pm:
The guys over at A4 Sounds will be collaborating with BLEND Residents' Association to bring you a night of short films and film events. There will be great vibes at this one and we can't wait.
-Cathal Brugha Barracks 5pm-9pm:
Ever wanted to see one of the largest military barracks of the Defence Forces? Well, now is your chance. There will be poetry, readings and pipers on the night.
-Clonliffe College Drumcondra 6pm-10pm:
This will be an evening of music, archives and literature from various ethnic cultures and communities. To top it all off Dublin Diocesan Music Group will be putting on a killer performance.
-The National Print Museum 6pm-9pm:
This super cool event will allow you to design your own sleeve, pull a print of letterpress for keepsake and take a look into the work of retired printers. There will also be a special event called "Curators of Conversation" running on the night.
