High Levels Of E. Coli Found At Popular Dublin Swimming Spots

Alana Laverty

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council have placed temporary prohibition notices advising against swimming at two popular water spots in Dublin.

High levels of E. Coli and Enterococci were found in the water at both Seapoint and Blackrock.

The presence of both bacteria indicate faecal contamination in water – unsettling to say the least.

The cause of these high levels is unknown and an investigation has been launched.

The water is being resampled and the results are due back next Monday, January 16. It will then be decided whether the temporary prohibition notice will be lifted or not.
