From big band brass to big venue DJing, Dublin offers a stellar range of fantastic acts for you to explore this weekend.
Saturday in particular leaves one spoiled for choice if electronic music is your jam, with at least three notable events worth checking out. What’s even more enticing is that all these headline acts are Irish DJs.
It’s hard to decide between what’s on offer and as such, this weekend is just another reminder of the buoyancy of Dublin’s electronic music scene these days.
Friday
Beck’s Rhythm Series: The Soul Rebels and Stomptown Brass
It’s hard to find a brass band with so much attitude making such waves in recent times as New Orleans’s very own Soul Rebels. After a whirlwind series of tours which saw collaborations with too many big name acts to mention, they touch down in Dublin this weekend for a big one with local lads Stomptown Brass. Expect feats of lung work the whole way through.

The Building Society Present: Ejeca and Chambray, Hangar
Belfast’s Ejeca comes to the grand space of Hangar this Saturday for what’s sure to be a pulsating night of music, touching on all areas of contemporary electronic music. With Chambray in support – a recent addition to Jimmy Edgar’s label – you can be assured of tunes the whole way through.
Dip First Birthday, Yamamori Sushi
A nice, big, lovely celebration of all things disco, boogie and house from a crew who’ve emerged with a series of inventive events over the past year. With two rooms of music going and surprise guests set to appear, it looks like a tantalising one indeed! €5 online, €7 on the door.
Krystal Klear and DJ Deece, Opium Rooms
Few DJs can get hips moving quite the way Krystal Klear can. Dublin-raised, now Manchester-based, Krystal Klear has an uncanny knack for pairing swirling diva vocals with upbeat disco-house to create truly infectious tunes. With esteemed local DJ Deece, a versatile and seasoned mixer, on board, this looks to be a whopper night indeed. €10
Loose Ends: Mr Freeze All Day Party, The Bernard Shaw
Well you’ll probably be pretty worn out if you attend any of those events, but it’s moments like these chilled out 80’s music and the beloved Mr Freeze treat are basically designed for. If you’re up for seeing your weekend off in style head down to The Shaw, music from 2pm on.
