Gardaí have confirmed that houses have been evacuated in the area of South Dublin following the discovery of a “suspicious device”.
It was discovered at around 3:30pm in the area of Kimmage and Gardaí are currently at the scene which is situated on the the junction of Durrow Road and Stannaway Road.
The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal team have been notified and is making its way to the scene.
AA Roadwatch has said on their website that “Stannaway Road in Kimmage is closed at the Durrow Road junction as Gardaí deal with an incident. A minor diversion is in place.”
STANNAWAY RD: Stannaway Rd is currently closed between Kilfenora Rd and Ferris Rd due to an incident at Durrow Rd junction. Take diversions via Sundrive Rd or Clonard Rd.

Because of this diversion, the Kimmage Rd Lwr is heavy outbound from Mount Argus through to Poddle Park.
