When news of the Spire was first announced back in the early 2000s, most Dubliners were sceptical. Fast forward nearly 15 years on, we've all grown to love it and the Spire has become an iconic part of Dublin's skyline, as well as a nifty meeting point. However, have any of you realised that the lights at the top of the spire have been out since October of last year? Councillor Noel Rock noticed after keeping an eye on it for a few weeks, and spoke to the Journal about it yesterday. Since Cllr. Rock's discovery, Dublin City Council have since gotten in touch with the Irish Aviation Authority so they can warn an Garda Síochána as well as airplanes not to fly overhead. According to Noel Rock, replacing the light will cost in the region of €10,000 to replace, and could take til March to arrange. Which leads us to ask, how many Dubliners do you reckon it would take to replace this lightbulb 398ft in the air?
