After a hugely successful first year, music company Ensemble are starting a record label, and they’re going to celebrate their first birthday with a gig on September 26.

Having been launched in September of last year by Rob Farhat and Rob Kearns, Ensemble now work with over 20 exceptional artists, including Conor Walsh, Ensemble Ériu, Kirkos Ensemble, Loah, Niwel Tsumbu, Shookrah, and Zaska.

They’ve recently expanded their team, with new members including Brian Dillon (of Meltybrains? and the Dublin Laptop Orchestra), Tadhg Byrne (also of Meltybrains? and the man behind Junior Spesh and Sim Simma) and Joe Panama (of Overhead, The Albatross).

Performing at Ensemble’s First Birthday gig will be Irish/Sierra Leonean star-in-the-making Loah, minimalist/electronic pianist Conor Walsh, experimental musician Simon Bird, along with two more acts, plus a few extra surprises that will be announced next week.

The gig will also serve as a fundraiser for the label, and the name ‘Friends Forever‘ is a little taster for a festival of the same name they will be starting next year.
